Chelchele is a classic washed Yirgacheffe profile from the Gedeo/Yirgacheffe area of southern Ethiopia, where high elevations, heirloom varieties, and cool growing conditions help create coffees with clarity, perfume, and refined fruit character. This Grade 1 Chelchele Special Prep, packed in GrainPro, with the broader Chelchele profile often showing cooked-sugar sweetness, almond, floral lift, and citrus complexity.

As a Special Prep washed lot, the focus is on careful selection, clean processing, and a more polished cup. The washed process helps preserve structure and brightness, while the extra preparation should translate to greater consistency, fewer defects, and a cleaner expression of place. Expect the coffee to sit firmly in that elegant Yirgacheffe lane: delicate, sweet, fruit-forward, and precise rather than heavy or ferment-driven.

In the cup, the coffee shows apricot, mellow brown sugar/caramel, juicy citric acidity, and delicate black tea aromatics with a fruit-like sweetness. That makes it a very approachable but still expressive Ethiopian washed coffee: soft stone fruit up front, a rounded cooked-sugar sweetness through the middle, and a clean, lifted finish that works beautifully as lighter style filter.
